2019 brings a fresh group of awardee videos for the North Bay Leadership Council. This is the ninth year we’ve produced these videos for the NBLC, and we are amazed once again at the quality of the effort and results these individuals and organizations are able to achieve. We invite you to learn more about them here.
On his return from the Vietnam War, veteran Ross Liscum brought with him a desire and a drive to make his hometown of Santa Rosa a safe, supportive community for all – especially children and veterans. Many years (and community causes) later, Ross was acknowledged this year by the North Bay Leadership Council with the 2019 “United We Stand: Community Building” Award. We present it here for your enjoyment.
The 2019 recipient of the North Bay Leadership Council award “From Red Tape to Red Carpet”, Leadership in Government is First 5 Sonoma County, who have successfully transitioned to an independent agency out from under the County umbrella in order to continue their critical work in a time of declining tobacco tax revenues (from which the bulk of their funding has come over the years.)
The 2019 recipient of the North Bay Leadership Council award “Paint the Community Green” for Environmental Stewardship is Sutter Santa Rosa Regional Hospital for their massive solar electric installation along with their many other environmentally conscious practices.
The 2019 recipient of the North Bay Leadership Council award for Empowering the Latino Community is Voces de Cambio, an organization actively working to end domestic violence in Marin County, especially among the latinx population.
Don Carney was this year’s recipient of the North Bay Leadership Council award “The Light Bulb Went On” for Innovative/Entreprenurial Spirit. Don started and spearheads the Marin YMCA’s successful Youth Court program built on Restorative Justice principles, an appropriate and effective way to keep young people out of prison and on the path to becoming assets to their communities.
