Pepperwood Preserve oversees a 3,200 acre nature preserve in Sonoma County as a living laboratory to engage students, volunteers, and scientists in applied conservation. Once a year they host a special “Sundown Celebration” as a thank you to their many dedicated donors. In 2018 the celebration was even more poignant with the devastation of the October 2017 fires still so evident. At their request, we were pleased to create this short remembrance of that evening.
We always feel blessed to work with the wonderfully talented folks at the Santa Rosa Symphony. With Director Bruno Ferrandis’ departure, the Symphony auditioned five awesome candidates for Director over a period of six months, assigning each one the task of conducting the Symphony in performance of challenging pieces. The public was actively invited to participate in the selection process, and to help generate interest (and concert attendance), we poduced five promo videos featuring the Symphony’s Historian, Kayleen Asbo, bringing insight and anticipation for each of the concerts.

The first event we shot for TRG | Aston Martin was the 2015 Rolex 24 in Daytona Beach. That was an awesome event with its own share of trials for the team, beginning with a crash with an uncontrolled Ferrari on the course, and followed later with a near miss with a pair of Porsches that we happened to film out on the track about 1:30am. That near miss caused some controversy, with the Porsche team claiming that the Aston Martin “closed the door” on one of their cars, an erroneous claim that was put to rest with our footage (viewable here).
After returning to Petaluma, we sat down with team owner Kevin Buckler and talked about the weekend, then built a video specifically to tell the story. This is the result. We hope you enjoy it.
The Santa Rosa Symphony is the resident orchestra at the Green Music Center in Sonoma County, and calls Weill Hall (a world-class concert hall virtually identical to Tanglewood) its home. The Symphony has a very strong commitment to music in local schools with a wide array of programs starting with second and third-graders (“Simply Strings) and going all the way through programs for high school students and beyond. While their patrons are aware of these programs, many of them are pretty much unknown outside of the Symphony supporters. The Symphony came to us to produce several videos designed to introduce their programs to the general public and encourage local support.
This is one of the ones we created for them.
Earlier this year we traveled with the TRG-Aston Martin Racing team to St. Petersburg, Florida for the Firestone Grand Prix. This was hot on the heels of their impressive finish at the 12 Hours of Sebring, and while the team didn’t do as well overall (thanks to a track accident early on), the rest of the activities contributing to “The TRG-Aston Martin Experience” lived up to their reputation. Out of the 4 days of trackside fun, we created this video.
Running, I mean racing, with the big boys: Been doing some work the last few months for TRG-Aston Martin Racing, producing videos highlighting the “TRG Aston Martin Experience”. There are two main audiences for these videos, both of which share similar interests, which is why we can get away with addressing the videos to more than one audience (we normally recommend against it as it dilutes the effectiveness of the video.)
In this case, we’re targeting corporate sponsors who want to offer incentives to sales people and large clients that go beyond the so-ordinary-these-days box seats at football, basketball and baseball games. Corporate sponsors are actively looking for “bucket list” experiences, and that’s what TRG’s business orientation does so well – to supply a unique, much sought-after experience. The second audience is made up of the race car drivers themselves. The good ones can race with practically their choice of teams, and skilled amateur drivers that meet the race qualifications will often contribute significant financial support in order to drive for the team. Both audiences are looking for teams with style, panache and winning ways, and video is an ideal medium for getting the message about TRG out to them.
Since the first of the year, we’ve been fortunate enough to travel with the team and cars to Florida (Daytona Beach / Rolex 24, 12 Hours of Sebring, and Firestone Grand Prix in St. Petersburg) and to Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas. Out of all that speed and madness have come a number of entertaining, higher energy videos. We will be posting these here at various intervals for your enjoyment.
First up: The 12 Hours of Sebring.
Dentistry has undergone some major changes in the last few years, resulting in some impressive new abilities, and a definite increase in patient comfort. Dr. Von Chan asked us to produce a video highlighting her practice and what makes it unique. We were tasked with summing up the new technologies and the benefits of using her practice in a video short enough to merit a place online on her website. This is the result.
While we always strive to produce videos that are worthy reflections of the real life they portray, every once in a while we are invited to step outside “the usual” and work in an arena largely unfamiliar to us. This was the case when Rachel Nixon of Urban Elements Salon in Petaluma asked us to produce a video to be used in a world-wide competition sponsored by Davines, a renowned producer of environmentally friendly and healthy products for hair stylists. We spent an entire day in the salon capturing Rachel’s magic, then added additional material captured at the photo shoot the following day on the beautiful Sonoma Coast.

Dow Pharmaceuticals, highly regarded developer of topical drug products for pharmaceutical and biotechnology clients, recently completed a major project in creating an effective topical treatment for (ugh) toenail fungus. After literally years of hard work, setbacks and all kinds of challenges, they wanted to acknowledge the hard work, tenacity and downright stubbornness of their staff and employees that finally brought this product to market, so they called us in to produce a high-energy, fun retrospective of the entire process.
And no, this is not a gross video at all.
